I have always loved cheese. I mean, really-who doesn’t. So creamy, so fattening, so mysterious. Alas, my knowledge of cheese was limited to cheddar, mozzarella, parmesan (already grated!) and cheese strings.
My daughter returned from a school trip to France and announced that she could “no longer eat Tex Mex cheese.” Her eyes had been opened to a new world-an old world, an artisan world of cheese. In an attempt to track down a slice of Beaufort cheese for her (the kind she fell in love with in France) I discovered that there were hundreds-actually-probably thousands-of cheeses out there. Seriously.
One could-if one wishes-eat a NEW CHEESE EVERY DAY- for 100 days, and still have more cheeses to discover.
Why couldn’t that someone be me? Thus, began, with trepidation, but great hunger and fear, my journey into cheese. I pledged to try a new cheese every day, and to photograph it and describe it here, starting November 1, 2012. That’s 100 cheeses, 100 blog posts.
This blog is on hold until further notice. I am no longer reading, nor researching cheese. I leave this as a shrine for my journey.
In the meantime, here’s my new website, please have a visit to the rest of Willow’s world!
